Pair of Victorian spills requiring ID please.
Hello
These vases are just over 4½" tall. They are a very pale blue colour.
I would love to know a manufacturer and year. Please tell me if you
know anything about them. I have searched, but so far without success.
Thanks in advance,
Stu.

Re: Pair of Victorian spills requiring ID please.
Just a couple of questions for my general education, how do you know Victorian and what is a spill vase please?
I had a couple of vaguely similar vases in non-uranium green a while back, but they seemed more modern.

Victorian mainly owing to feel. That's rubbish, I know, but broken down it would encompass various aspects, such a the imitation of cut glass and the "spill" appearance aspect.
These small vases would have been kept on the mantle for holding small shavings of wood (spill) as tapers for lighting cigarettes, pipes, other fires, etc from the fire.

Re: Pair of Victorian spills requiring ID please.
Really no fixed idea on manufacturer or age, but traditionally-styled faux-cut pressed glass was produced right through the 20th century, especially during inter- and post-war years when few could afford cut glass. Your glass also looks quite clean and bright, so I would guess they're from at least the 1930s-50s, or later.
Spill vases, if this is what they are (I'm no expert), were also in some demand until at least the 1960s.

Yes Nic, that's a great description of the ones I had. But of course I can't really tell if TT's are the same.
