Hello Folks,

I have had this little dish (4" diameter) for a number of years and I have not been able to recognize who made it ... perhaps you can help me here?

There are three possible clues:
1. The decoration ... I had a Colin Kellam mug with decoration not too dissimilar to this.
2. The 'cross' on the top side ... again, the Fournier book shows a similar 'cross' mark once used by ... Colin Kellam.
3. There appears to be a vague linear mark underneath ... which does not fit in with anything to do with ... Colin Kellam!!

... Unfortunately, I do not think this is by him! OK, neither is it Takeshi Yasuda ... so ... any ideas?

I think the cross stamp is just decoration. I think it’s by David Winkley, Vellow Pottery. I believe it’s a design he also introduced to Dartington Pottery in the early years - although it’s often attributed to David Leach

Early W mark

6” shallow dish.
I was expecting a Colin Kellam mark as glaze is v. Similar.
Mark looks like a curving diamond in a circle.
Apologies if I have shown this before. - My boxes of pots are chaotic at the moment.

Any ideas about the maker of this large stoneware charger (34cm Diam)? I wondered about Winchcombe briefly, but I think the decorated base rules that out (plus the lack of any mark). The orange highlights to the decoration are ringing a bell with me but I can’t place it. Thanks!

Looks like Colin Kellam's work.

Thank you - it does a bit, but the decoration doesn’t have the slightly ‘raised’ and textured effect I’ve found on the examples of Colin’s work I’ve come across - and it seems unlikely such a big piece wouldn’t be marked at all by a potter who frequently applies 3 distinct marks.

David Winkley is a good idea, it was a couple of Vellow Pottery bits it reminded me of I think. I’ll do a bit more digging, thanks Naomi

Having had a look at the David Winkley thread in the studio pottery forum I’m happy that’s a match - decoration, style and clay body all match.
