Glit (Iceland)
Have not been able to find much background info about Glit pottery, but apparently it dates from the 1960s and the earlier pieces incorporate lava rock into the glaze. Quite distinctive and easy to recognize, and those little lava bits are really sharp! (as in razor-like). Here is a decorative plate I found recently.

Re: Glit (Iceland)
I found out the pottery was established in 1958 by painter and potter Ragnar Kjartansson , described as a "Radical Romantic "( nutter), but don't know too many of the other workers at GLIT

Glit pottery mark?
I recently found a mug/cup with a GLIT mark on it, and I'm trying to find out if this is a legitimate mark for Ragnar Kjartansson's Glit Pottery Studio in Iceland. The mark is stamped/carved with and infinity sign with GLIT below it, and then the number 50109 below GLIT.
With the mug was some information from my husband's grandmother. She had written on some masking tape that was on the mug.
"Iceland 1979, made from volcanic lava" and "got in Iceland"
I've looked for Glit pottery marks online but couldn't find any that looked like the mark on the bottom of my mug. Does anyone have any information that could help me out?

Glit Iceland Lava Dish
I picked this up today in a bargain box! thought it looked like lava pottery, but couldn't quite make out the whole marking. I've done some limited research and it turns out to be Glit , founded by Ragnar Kjartansson (1923-1988). There is a painted A on the back. I've no idea what the symbol is all about. I thought someone might be a collector of Glit pottery.... I would appreciate any information.
It's 15cm wide.

Thanks Naomi, it's good to see other similar finds. I think it's a style people either love or find a bit weirdly interesting.

Pair of Lava Vases, GLIT POTTERY, Iceland
Pair of small vases with a a horizontal band of sharp decoration. Well marked on the underside with 'Lava', a rose type motif and what looks like GLT with a dot between the L and T. Italian, German, elsewhere?

When you said Lava you were totally right - real Lava stuck in the glaze

Glit Pottery Iceland Musk Ox
Hi,
I acquired this musk ox but can’t find out about it. It looks as if it is metal, but is pottery. It has Island underneath. Someone suggested it’s from Iceland, but still can’t find any info.
Any help gratefully received thanks.

Re: Glit (Iceland)
Oh, thank you! I have tried looking for potteries in Iceland that may make these, but couldn’t find anything. Any clue as to where to start?
