Badger money box, Bee mark, Cotswolds - Paula Humphris
Hi everyone
I need your help to identify this small ceramic Hedgehog or pig money box, there is an impressed 'Bee' and an impressed COTSWOLD POTTERY stamp on the underside of the piece.
I was thinking Paul Humphries or Paula Humphries???
What do you guys think? ( I was only able to upload 3 images, just hoping I can reply with more after posting)
Thanks in advance
Mark

I agree it does and she used to live in the Cotswolds before moving to Polpero, Cornwall, however the second mark is impressed COTSWOLD POTTERY, this I found on chatgpt, relates to a makers mark for a gentleman named Paul Humphries.... Which is a very similar impressed BEE and COTSWOLD POTTERY impressed stamp, so I just wonder are these the same person with a mistaken first name or husband and wife team???

'Paul Humphries' is a misspelling of Paula Humphris. She was the only one to use these marks, and she made ceramic animals - this one's a badger. She was in the Cotswolds in the 60s, and moved to Cornwall in 1969.

Naomi, I had no idea it was a badger, but the stripes down the eyes makes absolute sense.
Thank you for your reply. So would I also be right in saying this could be one of her early pieces? Would you have any idea on a value?

Yes, one of her early pieces. I’ve no idea of value, sorry.
