They stopped using Earthenware circa 1964.I am finding it difficult to se an ST there.

The main time they had issues with the kiln was 1951-53. They often had losses of up to 50%. They only really discovered the answer when they used an electric kiln in 1953. There was a problem of sulphates in the local clay which caused it. So it might well be from the early 50's.
