Not wood, but stone: "Teak Stone"
Not sure what category to post this under - maybe carved stone vessels need their own section?
Anyway here's a turned limestone bowl made in Pakistan in the early C21st. I bought it at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show in 2006, but the vendor had no specific information about the origins of the stone or the manufacture.
The stone is still worked and marketed under names such as "Teak Stone" "Teak Marble" or "Burma Teak Stone", although the stone has nothing to do with Burma, and doesn't (to my eyes anyway) look anything like teak. Also it's not strictly a marble.
Geologically, it's a fine-grained pale micritic limestone, with some healed fractures, veins and stylolites. The stone is quarried in Balochistan, in eastern Pakistan, but I haven't managed to track down the exact quarries yet, or exact geological unit it comes from.
I think it's an amazing and beautiful material, which carves into beautiful vessels. Another one to follow...
