Small wooden urn with pedestal base and slip-on top (not screw on)

Lid decorated with a blue white round panel with bird and foliage theme.

Height approx 6”. No signatures or marks. Picture of base to follow.

A tobacco jar?

Was wondering if it may be Dutch if the plaque was Delft?

Form has a late Victorian feel to me but no expert by any stretch…

It certainly looks old and well made, and something I don't recall seeing before.
It may well be continental, with Dutch being a contender, or maybe German with the wooden body.

I cannot get sight of a similar jar anywhere so cannot confirm anything further as yet.

Will try and get more clues on possible age and origin if poss.

FYI this piece has no striking plate. Wondered if you’d expect one if the piece was used to store matches? I have no knowledge in this are, just a thought
