Re: Bowl, HH mark - Henry Hammond?
The decoration etc look very like Henry Hammond's work. There is one similar mark in the Marks book but I haven't seen an example of it and it doesn't say if it was impressed in a circle or square or written. It's not Honor Hussey's style or mark; she's the one usually confused with Hammond. So I think chances are it is Hammond's or an unrecorded '70s potter. Maybe ask Jason Wood at Adam Partridge Auctions

Thanks Naomi,
I haven't come across an example of Henry Hammonds mark where the horizontal line doesn't project out beyond the upright lines.
Therefore I assume it's not by him. Probably still an unidentified potter, as you say.

Re: Bowl, HH mark - Henry Hammond?
One wonders if one we are being over cautious here? From the style alone, it looks very probably like Henry Hammond. I have had a couple of his pots, and this looks very similar to them. Leach style somewhat, but not on the mainstream of it.
His work is quite rare, as he spent most of his adult life lecturing at Farnham Ceramics course. Which he also headed. Where did you get this?
Some of his work at the Crafts Study centre Farnham.

Re: Bowl, HH mark - Henry Hammond?
I would love to think it was by Henry Hammond!
It feels like it has some age, and to my eye looks very accomplished.
There are four versions of his HH stamp in BSPM, but it's not to say that there are other similar ones not shown?
I wonder if it might be worth me contacting the Crafts Study Centre in Farnham, maybe someone there could give their view?

Re: Bowl, HH mark - Henry Hammond?
The stoneware body and the way the foot is finished of the original post doesn't look typical of Henry Hammond's work. It also doesn't look as well thrown as I would expect but the photograph could be deceptive.
However, the similar mark that Naomi has on file does look correct as far as how the foot looks and the stoneware body is.
It would be good to see the whole base of the bowl but I think the Craft Study Centre would be one of the only places that could give a definitive answer.
