Looks like John Maguire mark Strathearn Pottery Scotland?

If you could post an actual close up picture of the original mark whether it's difficult to see or not would be good

Yes, you are correct thanks. Thought I'd seen it somewhere before. It is in the book,
but it says a painted mark, rather than impressed. I see now it's really a cryptic "JM".
It's actually fine white stoneware, rather than porcelain.
