If you look at the glaze pattern, you could describe it as an 'Orange Peel' design. This is one of the classic signs of salt glazed pottery. This where salt is put into the kiln during the firing. It makes for a strong piece. Micki Schloessingk specialised in wood fired salt glazing in South Wales. Other notable modern British important potters who used salt glaze were Walter Keeler, Jane Hamlyn and Sarah Walton. We have a thread on Micki which you can find by typing in search.
