Ilkun Chun
Ilkun Chun or Zenzan as he was also known was born in Kyoto in 1947.
From 1966 to1971 he studied drawing at Osaka City Institute of Art but in the early 1970s began to visit potteries. He started his own pottery workshop in 1975 and had his first solo exhibition at Hirakata Civic Hall in 1980. In 1988 he moved to Ichishi Mie where he not only built his own workshop and three kilns but also the house in which he lived.
Over the years he had more than 100 exhibitions in Japan and Korea but sadly passed away in November 2011 due to a sudden heart attack.
There was an exhibition of his work in North London in 2013 and so you might come across his work in the UK.
