I did think so initially, but this is the MP mark I have for Mount Pleasant Pottery and it’s different from the mystery oneĀ

MP was a mark used at Highland Home Industries' Morar Pottery training unit, from Alex Sharp's time there in the late 1940s/early 50s. However, the marks I've seen have all been with a much crisper stamp mark.

Alex used these "MP" marks, but often (usually?) added his own "AS" stamp as well, to his own pieces. MP by itself seems to have been used for general production from the pottery, especially by trainees. After Alex left Morar, it was run by other potters (I don't know enough about them just now). I wonder whether they may also have used their own versions of the "MP" mark?

That is very useful info, thank you. However, these threads have the Morar Pottery stamp and as you say, it's a lot crisper, so I think this one may be a different pottery
