Is this an early Roger Guerin pitcher?
Hi,
Among some items I inherited from my late parents is a pitcher, which I suspect might be an early Roger Guerin pitcher. All I know is that my mother sometimes used it to water her house plants, but I'm afraid I'm unaware of how it came into my parent's possession, as they themselves inherited many items from various relatives and certainly never advised me where it originated from.
The pitcher or jug, has a light blue glaze on it, with the Fleur de Lys on either side and a feature ring below the top of the jug being a darker blue. The crest is neutral and there is a wavy feature handle, which is picked out with a pattern on either side of where the handle joins the body of the jug. It also has a possible thumb indentation pattern around the base of the jug. The pitcher is 25cm high and at it's widest circumference is 52cm.
My research highlighted that there are many similarities between my jug's design and the work of early Roger Guerin pieces, and certainly the signature on the base is very similar. I've attached pictures of the signature, which features an "R" within the "G" of the signature, alongside additional pictures of the pitcher.
Would you be able to confirm my suspicions, about it being a Roger Guerin?
