Aldermaston Surely! Empty Aldermaston Surely!

Post by D C BEAL January 22nd 2023, 3:41 pm

I found this breakfast coffee cup recently - alas no saucer..... I think it must be Aldermaston but I cannot match the mark on the base with any mark in the Aldermaston marks list I've seen; I realise there were many assistants working there over the years so the list is not comprehensive. A similar cup and saucer was listed for Id on 20th Forum back in October though the mark is rather different I think Jaki Rothery or Simon Rich were suggested. The dimensions of this one are 13.5 diameter and 6.5 height. I'd welcome any suggestions! Thank you!

The lack of an A in the monogram points to an ex-Aldermaston potter, continuing to make pots in that style. Closest seems to be Judith Partridge.

That's interesting.....I kept seeing an A when I looked at the mark one way up!

You are also of course, looking at one part of a two part item. So the saucer might well have had a full mark, while the maker just did this one very quickly.
