At first glance it looks like a standard Japanese Egg Shell type tea set which they exported in vast quantities. Are the pieces light to hold? They always look very attractive, but there are a vast number around.

Yes they were very light to hold, and thin! I’m assuming this backs up your theory of Japanese egg shell?

Yes, all that type of tea set were made from Porcelain. They are absolutely lovely to use in practice because they are so light. But unfortunately, their very attractiveness made them very popular. I hope you did not pay too much for i!

Agreed, Japanese egg shell porcelain, early 20thC. Worth checking out Gotheborg website of 20thC Chinese and Japanese marks, but most are the marks are shorthand by the decorators rather than a company mark
