Unsigned ridged footed studio bowl - Winchcombe??
Dear Forum,
Attached please find 3 pictures of a ridged outer surface, high-sided footed studio bowl. Unsigned but beautifully formed and glazed.
Height 9cm
Diameter at top - 19cm
Foot diameter - 5cm
Would love to get peoples views and insights on it. Reminds me of Winchcombe / Ray Finch in some ways...
Thanks in advance!

I don't think that's Winchcombe for a few reasons, but a beautiful piece imo.
There's more knowledgeable (than me) folk on here that will be able to give you a more definitive answer than mine.

It's an unusual foot. I don't think it's by someone who's trained in the Leach or Cardew tradition

Hi Naomi
Thanks for your comments as always.
Yes, a nice bowl.
Hope more light can be shone on its pedigree!

It looks like a Winchcombe glaze, but that ribbing was never their style. Just too much work for a production pottery. Nice bowl tho.

The foot suggests to me that it's not British but I don't know where it's from. However, I have seen a similar foot on something decades ago!

It's nothing like any Japanese foot that I have come across and I have been exhibiting and selling Japanese ceramics for over 15 years.

Hi denbydump
Thanks for your note
Had another look at the base. There is a short, but pronounced pertrubance in the centre, approx 50mm in height.
Colour - kind of a pearl opalescent hue.
Shape - spiralling as it rises. Reminds me of a shell.
Attached is another one of my average photos which this morning has a yellowness for which I again apologise. If I can help in any other way with info please let me know!
Thanks again for your interest and help.

Apologies, forgot to mention that there appears to be no visible markings on the protuberance either.
