Can anyone give me a steer as to the origins of this weird and wonderful Italian pitcher or jug?

The base is marked ‘Italy’ and possibly the number 1386 or 1326. There appears to the the remnants of a round label that possible had blue print on it and a smaller rectangular label. It stands approximately 34cm tall. 

It’s hand painted of a grey clay or similar material. Any info gratefully received as I’m drawing a blank but it was too intriguing to leave behind.
