Hello, I would appreciate any input on this piece(pot or jar...which is it?)ID Help With Lidded Japanese/Chinese Pot/Jar?? 20220811

.  I don't think it's a mass-produced piece but then again, I'm no expert.  I'd like to know if anyone knows of this maker.  I'm not sure whether it's Japanese or Chinese, but the style seems more Japanese to me. It could be neither.  It's heavy and is 7" tall (floor to lid top) and 5.75" at the widest. Thanks!

I suspect that it was made in the US, as the stoneware doesn't look like that used in China or Japan.

Seems to be dated '05 - 2005. Unlikely to be dated like that if it was Asian. And the glaze looks US studio pottery. I've not found it on The Marks Project website of US studio pottery marks

Thanks for the input. I'm going to have to learn how to read glazes and clays like you people here...I have little experience in that department.
