Goberg Metallwarenfabrik Candlesticks (Germany)
Goberg Metallwarenfabrik Candlesticks (Germany)
German decorative metalworks factory, founded by Hugo Berger (Goberg, geddit?), the factory took the English Arts & Craft aesthetic and semi-automated it for mass-production. Their main output seems to have been candlestick holders that utilised interchangeable standardised parts to create new designs in the factory. Much of the Goberg metal found in the UK seems to have been sold through Liberty & Co. from c.1910-20.
Items are usually stamped to the base with either 'Goberg' or 'Germany'.

Goberg chamberstick with matchbox-holder, c/1910.

Close-up of backstamp and hand-finished rivet.
