Carved hardwood candle holder?? Empty Carved hardwood candle holder??

A chip carved hardwood disc dia: 4”, d: 1 3/4” carded on all faces, bottom looks turned. Any ideas what it is and where from? Thanks Carved hardwood candle holder?? 00af9010

I dont know the date but the carving looks quite old, imo. Those circles in circles can date back a few hundred years.

Also, I think the 4 smaller holes have been drilled at a later date and maybe nothing to do with original function. The large centre hole looks contemporary with the carving.

Genius! Think you’re right. A base for a nutmeg grater. Obviously, the top (grater) element missing. Late 18th/early 19th C. Thanks Naomi
