Does that box lid fit on exactly? That would be quite a difficult thing for a hobby potter to get right.

Yes perfectly, I thought it quite skilled upon purchase but struggled to find the mark anywhere, so queried hobbiest.

It’s not that hard to get the lid to fit - it’s a common technique to teach hobby potters/beginners to make a solid cube shape with slabs then cut into a box and lid once leather hard. Much easier than making the lid and body separately, looks like what’s happened here.

I suspect it’s a hobby potter. Slab building like this is one of the techniques taught early on to pottery students, and the glaze on the dots is a bit patchy

The dots are very runny on other side ;) its very light and lovely in hand.
