I've come across it before but not managed to ID it. Worth trying the New Zealand Pottery website - https://www.newzealandpottery.net/t8743-does-anybody-know-whose-ankh-mark-this-is

Plus there are several Pinterest groups logging studio pottery marks from NZ's Trademe marketplace which are worth checking out. Unfortunately Pinterest is difficult to search on.

I do have a copy of a book written by Janet Mansfield of Australian & New Zealand potters. It is a coffee table type book with numerous colour image but there isn't anything similar in there.

Thank you both for your thoughts Happy I have been on newzealandpottery.net and asked if the marks were recognizable to anyone but so far no luck Shrugs I have also browsed through https://australianpottersmarks.wordpress.com/ to no avail.  I'm thinking maybe it could be British?

Steve James - New Zealand Empty ANKH 4 DOTS AND A CROSS - Steve James, New Zealand

Post by TangerNe11 June 27th 2021, 5:35 am

I have been trying to research these pieces for quite a while now...........looking for any potters who use an 'ankh' and four dots surrounding a cross.  I previously posted one of these pieces (the larger of the 2) a few months back and whilst many people gave me fantastic leads, I am still without the potters name.  Could the pieces be a collaboration?  I have requested the potters identity through NZ and Australian forums to no avail.  I have put the two pieces together in one post hoping someone may recognize the pattern/s.
