A Mark - Not Aller Pottery. Possibly Geoff Hartley

I've split Ed's post off from the Aller Pottery thread because I'm not sure it's right; I've not come across an Aller 'A' that's open at the top. I think I've seen this mark somewhere else.

Just checking, Is that thumbs up because you think it is Aller or you agree with splitting it off?

When one really looks at it it does look rather unusual for an Aller Pot. Never seen that type of glazing on on one before. Equally the normal Aller A looks a bit fatter than that. But, it is a debateable point.

I thought it was the right time to upset Ed now that he has found his new home running around on Facebook.

I remember at the time thinking it looked like nothing that I had seen produced at Aller over the years. I know the Newmans had a number of potters that passed through there but they tended to concentrate on the domestic side of things. Bryan's more experimental work was always more precise and geometric from what I have seen.

Found a FB page set up by the family with old Aller Pottery photos and none of the pots looked like this one

The mark is similar to Gary Wornell's impressed mark in the book, albeit square instead of round, but the style is nothing like his porcelain wares.
