I think its upside down with a smudged bit. Looks like an early dfp mark for David Frith

You may well be right thanks ..checked against some of his marks and this does look like a smudged one. The little pot has a classy look to it also. I am convinced thanks

Because of the thinness of the letters, this stamp is very likely to look smudged most times that you see it.
The stoneware body and the glaze mixes also fit in with what you would expect to see if it was a David Frith piece, so everything seems fine.

I sent him an email a few months ago about a selection of mystery marks that might have been his but never recieved an reply. I guess it went straight to his spam folder
