The Mark looks like one of those test your nerve metal loop things at a fairground before you get a little shock!!!
there may be a g in it but its such an unusual mark I've no idea - the Mark's book provided no clues...

I think you may be on to something N,,, made me look at it from different eyes...  Could be something like this (pardon the desperate microsoft paint skills)...
