It’s a lovely vase with a strangely messy mark. Bernard Charles used an incised mark but his C was a bit flatter

I agree with everything that Naomi has said but just to add that you mustn't conclude that it might have been made by Bernard Charles.
I have handled a number of pieces of his work and it isn't like anything I have seen.

Thanks. Yep agreed it’s quite a messy makers mark, weird considering how well made the piece actually is. Clearly produced by someone very skilled.

The mark must match the style of pottery made by that potter to be sure of an ID, so if there’s nothing similar by Bernard Charles then the likelihood is it’s not by him. Not impossible, but best to keep looking.
