Help Identifying US Pottery Bowls - Marc Hansen?
We have four bowls that look very similar. One is slightly larger than the others. The larger bowl is clearly marked MH similar to the Marc Hansen pottery mark. However, the H cross bar overruns the letter on the right side and the tails of the H are curved to the right. The smaller bowls are marked MH with varying degrees of straight to curved tails on the letter H and the degree of overrun on the cross bar for the letter H. These are 4 tone (brown, tan, beige and taupe) and are speckled. The larger bowl weighs 8.5 oz. and the smaller 3 bowls weigh between 6 - 7 oz. each. The material appears to be glaze over reddish brown clay. The glaze has some overrun spots on one of the smaller bowls. One of the other smaller bowls has a tiny scuff to the glaze and a flea bite nick both in one location at the rim edge.
Could these be early Marc Hansen? If not, any thoughts on who the potter may have been? We do not know a lot about pottery so any descriptive information regarding how these were made would be welcomed and appreciated.
Thanks you for any insights you can share.

Re: Help Identifying US Pottery Bowls - Marc Hansen?
This site is based in the UK, and most of us live there. Hence it is very difficult for us to answer such a specialist question about an individual US potter.
Speaking generally about studio pottery/potters. Going down the road of trying to identify a maker by looking for a 'lost' mark is a fairly fruitless One. Believe me, we have all done it!
Could that mark be interpreted in different ways? Freehand marks are always more variable than impressed marks. MHE? Or a feveral EHM? HM? Or a combination of two potters working together ? A lot of studio pottery stays local to the area. People buy it for presents etc. Any possibility of some good amateur or long ceased potter in your area producing it?
Anyways. I wish you luck!

This is the mark I have for Marc Hanssen. I think it’s unlikeky he would vary it much, and especially not between four bowls which were likely to have been made at the same time.
