I was told by an AR expert that this is a St Ives pottery goblet and I'd like to know a bit more about it - can anyone help?Studio Pottery Goblet painted St Ives? Img_4920

It stands approx 14cm tall ans 7cm wide at the mouth.

I'd be gobsmacked if the "Expert" meant THE St. Ives pottery!

Looks a bit Scandinavian to me.

Yes it does doesn't it. The design looks like it was applied with a fat marker pen....but yes, the Antiques Roadshow guy said the mark was St Ives.

Its a nice goblet. But the Antiques Roadshow person was no expert! Laughter In fact one wonders if they knew anything about pottery whatsoever. This absolutely nothing like the work of the Bernard Leach St Ives pottery, nor anything like any of the smaller potteries or potters that worked in St Ives.
Interesting piece tho.

It looks similar to some of the Vallauris wares
There are other Potteries at St Ives, eg Christine Richards
