I’m 51 years old and Received this down from my uncle passed to him by my grandad. It’s a old minds head and his cap comes off. It was used for pipe tobacco. I can’t make out the signature and would like to find out more about it.  It is Made from very thin clay.

Thanks for all your help

I’ve had a few tobacco head pots but this isn’t one of the marks I’ve come across before. I’d estimate it’s c.1900, from Northern Europe, maybe Germany . Hopefully someone can read the signature

Thank you for your reply. Have I described It correct saying it’s for tobacco? Could you make out the signature? To me it looks like
C. K. Ciml would you agree?

Thanks

Yes, they are usually described as Tobacco jars, although smoking purists would point out the tobacco would go stale if they were actually used for storing it, due to the poor seal. So more novelty items than of practical use.
