Large decorative mantle vase

Hi,

I've recently bought this vase, out of pure curiousity more than anything! The marks are limited, and it's like nothing I've bought before. Any thoughts on where this might be from, or what sort of age it might be?

It's around 30cm high. It's still in transit, so will get better photos and more details soon.

I'm hoping to get better at id-ing and researching this sort of thing myself, so any advice on where to start with something like this would be appreciated.
