The glaze looks good and interesting but the shape is a letdown. The mark shows a bit of flair but..................

It's an odd one for sure. The inside doesn't have that sudden change of direction like the outside, it's shaped like a regular bowl. I wonder if the shape is an attempt to find a way of making the bowl more comfortable to hold - not that there's anything wrong with the basic shape that's worked so well for about 10,000 years or-so, but there's always that one person who thinks that they can improve a classic.

I think it the lack of the ability to throw proficiently, so a beginner.

I thought it could well be a 'start of career' piece. Apart from the shape everything else is good. It's perfectly round with no deviation, the walls are perfectly smoothed and the rim is even, no wavy irregularities, no lumps or bumps, and the glaze is evenly applied. It's just the odd shape that lets it down, so for a beginner I'd say that it's an excellent effort. If he/she persevered, I wonder how much improved their work is nowadays.
