This is one of my favourites. It's clearly signed to the base but I can't make head nor tail of the signature.

Vallauris (South of France) - Page 6 Legopi35

Stands 14cm high, rim diameter just over 10cm. It looks like the under glaze is brown with a slightly foamy white glaze over that and the blue design painted over, opposing flowers and a circular design like 3 faces on top of oneanother. The whole thing gives it a mottled effect, as if it grew out of the ground rather than being made. It's lovely, one of my favourites.
I bought it from Germany, but it could come from anywhere I suppose and I can't make any start on the signature. As always any help would be greatly appreciated.

one of these is on Dickinson's real deal at the moment valued £1100-£1500

sold for £750

Not a programme I watch but I'll see if I can see it on my "on demand" feature. Thanks for letting me know.
it was a plate with the same design it had the same marks as yours tho there was some discussion that it might be a fake.unlike yours the clay colour was not visible either a glazed over foot or a strange white clay

this piece of Picault arrived today, the decoration is superb but the lid is a very poor fit,in fact it's so poor I'm wondering if it belongs to the pot? Um...

it does seema bit big but quality control wasnt all that good. Yesterday i saw a Picault signed with the full name that had a huge chip out of the side due to a bit of plaster in the clay it had still been glazed and fired on top!!

I've got a handled pot with a lid not all that different (not Robert Picault or even French), I would be inclined to think it is "right", but of poor quality potting.

I've got a jar by another maker where the lid (correct lid) will almost fall in the pot, as the potting is that poor.

Vallauris (South of France) - Page 6 Empty Vallauris Pitcher with Label & Signature ?

Post by antiquerose123 on February 19th 2012, 8:41 pm

Hi, bought this a while ago. It has a gold foil label on it that says Vallauris. Looks to be a signature but I can not make it out. The surface is as rough as can be (as a picture is worth a 1000 words......LOL). This is about 7 inches tall, and about 5 inches wide at the widest point.

Vallauris (South of France) - Page 6 Pb-val11

Does anyone know what year this is from, and who the maker (signature) is? Pondering

Thanks

Is it typical Vallauris to imitate the wooden texture?
I'm asking because I've found several pieces with this kind of texture, signed Vallauris.

Hi there

This is one of my favourite ceramics, bought at one of the most insignificant car boot sales I have ever been to. I love it.

Vallauris (South of France) - Page 6 Empty Roger not Jean!!

Post by Globall6 on March 12th 2012, 6:48 am

Thanks for pointing that out! I realised my error as soon as I'd posted my reply. What a dumbo!! Not sure where I got Jean from.
I love everything about this piece. The glaze, the shape, the colours, and the fish itself. No, it wasn't a fiver. If I remember rightly it was 50p.

Does anyone know the years of production, and if there are any other variations of this design?

Thanks

I think this is a Roger Capron lidded container. It is not signed and someone has written ITALY in thick black pen on the rim of the base. Some chips so not perfect (sadly), but it is gorgeous.
