I would love to find out what these small (around 2-3") pan shaped things were used for. early 19th century.

Just seen a similar one in a book (An illustrated analysis of Pottery & Porcelain Prices at Auction, page 95), description runs as follows...

18thC Worcester asparagus server, 3in £160

Yours are not Worcester though but at least we know what it is now. The flowers painted on it are very similar too.
