Bowl with incised and painted decoration, has an impressed mark but I really can't make it out. Depending on which way you look at it gives different results!!!! 🙄hoping somey will recognise the style or he able to decipher the mark.

The quality of the throwing, form and decoration suggest a serious potter. I have emailed Mike to see if he can help. Thanks for the suggestion Naomi. Happy

Is there an MJD there tho? Mike Dodd of course does produce a lot of glaze included pottery. Is that obvious here?
A straight M is early Mary Rich? No., too sophisticated Leach style. Then there is Mickey Schloessingk. Wood fired, but not so much Leach style. Certainly a possibility.

I think there’s a J or Y in the middle, as a monogram rather than separate letters, which could rule out Mike Dodd

There is definitely a long tailed letter in the centre of the mark, hopefully I will get an answer to my email. Either way IMO it's a really good piece that's going to be a keeper.

Had a lovely reply from Mike Dodd:

Hi David,
Yes, this is a very early bowl made at my first pottery at Jacobs Cottage (1967-71). There is a similar bowl photographed on page 31 of my book ‘An Autobiography of Sorts’. It’s nice to see that it has survived around 50 years so far,
My best,
Mike
