Celadon Lidded Bowl with Embossed Lotus

Not at all familiar with this style, took me forever to realize the signature was probably an Asian character, I still don't know which way is up.  Does any know what it says or anything else about the piece?  I don't think it's very old at all, but it's driving me crazy not being able to figure out what/when/where/etc.  Thanks

A lovely looking pot. I would have said Chinese until I scrolled down to the mark. Not sure that it is oriental, other than its style in the manner of. Good luck with it, I am sure someone on here will be able to help with it.
