Help identifying vase, Ralph Pardington?

I found this little vase at a thrift store. The mark looks like one used by mid century potter Ralph Pardington as does the style. The problem is the number 53 which I assume indicates the year made. According to my research would make him around 15-16 if my information is correct. That seems unlikely so I'm at a loss as to who made this.

Does this mark look familiar to anyone? Thank you in advance for your help!
