A well modelled stoneware bird, with oxide wash. Avocet?
Pretty sure mark is MJR, but not in my book.

The 'book' of course is about potters. For some reason historically the pottery community has been some what 'Sniffy' about the animalier element. Unless of course you name is Rosemary Wren
