I can see from the shape that it looks as if it could take a lid but usually if a potter was making a container (a pot with a lid) they would leave an unglazed ring just inside the top of the base. The part of the lid that would fit in there would also be unglazed so that the two pieces would stay together better.

This is not always the case but your pot looks to be glazed inside the top so the likelihood is that it never had a lid.

ha i see just like that SID TUSTIN pouring vessel i posted on here... think it was you or ed that told me it should have a lid... now i know. thank you for that lesson john and well received :)

Yes the unglazed area was the reason one of us told you that the pouring vessel was missing its lid.
