Ponthir miniature vase?

Post by Kaniss on April 7th 2018, 10:16 pm

Hello everybody,
my first post and I would like to ask for an ID or at least a bit more info about this particular piece

it's about 7 cm high, "Ponthir" imprint visible at the bottom, no other visible signatures I could find.

Best regards and thanks for help :)

Ponthir pottery is the name of the pottery that well known British studio potters Janet and Frank Hamer used between 1960-77. Generally tho the pottery mark used 1953-70 was an H with a dot either side, combined with a personal mark. The pottery they produced at Ponthir was mainly functional work. Goblets, mugs, tiles. loving cups, beakers in stoneware. This looks like that type of ware. Very much of its time,

Thanks, a lot... a quick dig brought me to this: goo.gl/Gyo7eV

So it's '77 the latest.

Much obliged Philpot :)

PS any idea on what the actual purpose of this piece was?...

Itís a bud vase, but often such miniatures were Ďkiln fillersí, fired between the larger pots, and sold to children on school trips and holiday.

40 GBP :) - made my day,

I agree... the one I have has more "intricate" design and at least 4 times the colours ;) than the brown one.

And I got it for 50p on a flea market. It just called to me :)

eBay links are not allowed outside of the lava lounge because they are short lived and we want info on this site to be available for future reference. Nic used to simply delete the whole post without bothering to edit it. If I have time I prefer to edit but I will delete if Iím busy so please donít do it again.

Oh dear, I will bear that info in mind, I didn't think it would have been an issue though as it had been identified and I was referring to the sizes being similar.
