Pottery ID and age
My father bought this ginger jar many years ago and whilst I don't know how old it is, it would be nice to find something about who made it and if it has much value. Photographs will help it is 8" tall and 6.5" wide

Re: Pottery ID and age
Does it have any marks on it? Unmarked ginger jars are very common in oriental ceramics,

I suspect the vase was bought new at the time. Best to check the Gotheborg website of Chinese Marks as they have the most comprehensive database of 20thC marks

Thanks Naomi but I was trying to shortcut a lengthy search by asking questions on this forum. With the lettering on the one side, someone perhaps knows what it states.

Re: Pottery ID and age
I’m afraid none of us can read Kanji. Best to ask one of the Chinese Ceramics collectors groups on Facebook where there are Chinese members who can read it. Most likely it’s a well known poem; the style points to an early to mid 20thC; possibly People’s Republic period.

Thank you. That has moved us forward as I did not know that the language was Kanji.
However, if non of the forum members can help with this it is a pity.
Thank you anyway.
