Unknown maker (s?), 2 pots signed York, probably by the same person.

When I first picked up this brightly coloured vase ( YORK C : mark ) I thought it might have been a piece by Barbara Cass.
I am not sure who the mark belongs to, but I do think the same hand created both of these vases. The mark is a little different, but there are similarities and I think the K is lacking †(on the brightly coloured one) because of a lack of room.
Your thoughts are welcomed, thank you.

Iíve seen a few of the first one before; signed York, KC or CP or other monogram. I think it may have been a pottery co-operative.

The second one looks like John Froudís ĎJAFí monogram - Avago Farm Pottery, Huntington, York

Thank's Naomi, I was going to ask exactly what a co-operative would be, but I'll google it and educate myself a little.
I have never heard of that one before, many thanks, I'll have a dig Happy

I guess itís a collection of young potters using the same studio and making similar pots, like Chelsea Pottery, and Powdermills Pottery with their anagama kiln.
There are one or two currently in London... but their stuff is a bit hobby-potter-ish

Thank you Naomi.
There is a shop / gallery I recently went into (after seeing some lovely sang de boeuf vases in the window) to enquire about the price & maker, only to be told that the vases had been made for the gallery to sell and that the artists were working for the gallery. I was still baffled as to why the vases were not signed, they were of such great quality and the gallery owner seemed a bit off by my persistence in wanting to know who had thrown them and why their identity was such a mystery. It was all a bit weird. I think I have a lot to learn.

That sounds very odd. Maybe they were made in China?

Why was this one IDed as Barbara Cass? Or was it posted on that thread for ID rather than being merged?

Cassís York mark was a stamp according to the Marks book, not handwritten

Yes. I think I have, or have had, some of these York marked pots before,
probably from York boot!
