Mystery chargers with sgraffito decoration signed Samiloff

My first thought was Peter Arnold before I saw the back. Apprentice or not British...?

The signature doesn't look British to my eyes, but the display side does.
Sorry I cannot help, but they are lovely, especially the first one.

Yes, the front is very British looking, but the black stain on the back looks foreign to me, as well as the name. Could it be Scandinavian?
