http://www.craftscouncil.org.uk/what-we-do/collect/
Your chance to mingle with the Uber Rich International Craft Collectors Extraordinaire! Tickets are sorta £20 each or thereabouts, with various permutations. Organised by the Crafts Council, in its 14th year. 40 odd galleries trying to pry open the wallets of the resident Lodonium Billionaires, to an exorbitant extent. Oxford Ceramics is there (Julian Stair, Lucie Rie, Hans Coper) Joanna Bird Gallery, and a couple of other ceramic orientated galleries. Filling all 3 Floors of the Saatchi Galery. Just make sure you got yer American Express Platinum/diamond Credit Card/ Coutts Private Bank Debit card to hand!
And here is me remembering when the Crafts Council actually lived on Planet Mortal Earth!

I have never been before but was posted a free pass by one of my customers and so I am off there tomorrow. Back at the beginning I was approached to take part but never had any desire to sell to those kind of people.

Keep up the standards SP, living in your S London garret with a leaky roof,
all because your landlord is Archie Rice!

I been and seen and I was going to be difficult to impress but the Crafts Council did not disappoint.
It has long been my view that some of the finest art produced down the centuries has been in the areas that we call craft.
It appears as if the Crafts Council has made that something that will never happen again in this country by promoting garish bling for I know not who.
Besides ceramics I am interested in textiles, weaving and basketry and the only things vaguely of interest were some Moon Jars on a couple of Korean gallery stands and a couple of teabowls there too plus more Moon Jars by Adam Buick elsewhere.
The so called "Masters of British Studio Pottery" was a few pots plonked down in a space by galleries, which was a total nonsense knowing what work the Fitzwilliam Museum, who appear to have co-ordinated it, have at their disposal.
I did buy the "Richard Batterham Master Potter" DVD from Joanna Bird, so not a complete wasted journey.

I did forget to mention some large black raku jars by Patricia Shone that were very good. In the past I have seen images of her work and been a little disappointed with it in real life. These were fine but at around £1200 I thought too pricey. One had sold though.

I have a couple of pieces by Patricia Shone. I wish she did more stoneware and porcelain and less raku.

The Richard Batterham DVD is available at £12 + postage from the Joanna Bird Foundation.
I must admit I really do not see the relevance of the Crafts Council nowadays. The very fact it is at the Saatchi Gallery, is a statement in itself. That the only Exhibition it now organises is basically an appeal to the ultra-elitist wealthy is rather depressing.
