The Japanese have an amazing ability to make pots that look handmade or have a handmade element in them, but the glaze looks sprayed on, to mimic anagama firing. An individual potter would use a real anagama kiln

Check out Seto ware, a yellow glazed earthenware pottery, made in Seto City and the Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Has some similarities, including the sgraffito design, as your vases.

To me the box looks old (mid 20th century) and is Japanese. The pot is new and factory made like the others. Therefore just put together by the seller to fool the auction house and potential buyers. Probably having a laugh, as they didn't even bother to take off the sticky label.
What was the description in the auction catalogue?
