My first thought is Japanese, but the little dish looks more like Studio pottery. Japanese or French, maybe?

they came with a Tony Laverick, Walter Keeler, Joanna Howells, Francois Dufayard, Jean Pierre Chollet, and Alaine Dejardin piece and a few other not so well known potters - so i'm guessing the previous owner was a collector - focusing mainly on English and French Studio Potters.. so I'm narrowing down to those regions..

I don't know. There are some European Collectors sites that have a mix of pottery and their marks, and there are some regional pottery co-operative sites e.g. La Borne - http://www.laborne.org/pages/ceramistes-permanents/fiches-perso/sybesma_georges_new_en.html
