Gilda Westermann - shell mark

Hi, can anyone tell who the potter is - it is a well made porcelain vessel with a very very slight pink tinge - the only mark is a shell mark with a loop at the top...

There is the outside possibility that it could be a french hand - it came with a few Joanna Howells pieces but not the same kind of shell engraving.







Any ideas?

p.s. I spent 30 mins looking for a vgc mark in the book yesterday - before i realised it stands for Very Good Condition  schoolboy error!!!!!

I can put a name to this one (accidentally found from a similar Marked pot on ebay)...

Gilda Westermann born Germany now lives in Devon.

I had a day out yesterday and despite making a decision long ago not to buy things such as this, I bought it. The mainly reason was to support the only antiques shop left in town but also because it was a very good lidded pot and the impressed seal rang a bell from 20 or 30 years ago.

The bell did not ring loud enough to remember the maker, hence it landing here.

It's white glazed porcelain; around 9 inches tall and it has the impressed mark on the base (as shown) plus inside the lid too.

It's something that pays better than making pots. You help people attain their goals in life and so there is absolutely no reason why you might not change direction and be one.

It is probably frustrating when a less talented potter, working in porcelain in a similar manner, gets all of the praise. Even though you know that's solely because they are able to pay for PR and are well connected.
