Identification of a highly textured red earthenware globular pot
Hello
Can anyone help identify the makers mark on this pot I picked up recently please? It appears to be hand thrown red earthenware, heavily scored which has opened up some great textured ribbing on firing. Its been given a matt sandy yellow and pale blue glaze. It stands approx 12" high with similar diameter at its widest point. There is some weight to it but its not overly heavy as you might expect from an amateur piece. Inscribed on the bottom are a series of marks/letters/nimerals which I'm having difficulty deciphering. Numeral-wise they could be read whichever way up the pot is held ie 38? 58? 83? 85? It could have been made anywhere in the world, but was bought in the UK. Does anyone recognise the marks or the decorative techniqes used please? Many thanks

Style is similar to Terry Davies work. He's now based in France.

Also similar to the work of US potter Marcia Selsor, and Australian potter Michael Wein , amongst others
