I've come across the cross mark before, but not the others. Not IDed yet. Lots of new leads :)  I have a suspicion it's a pottery that provides pottery for reenactments. There is a Moseley Old Hall which might be a lead.

Some other examples -

I've found one reference to this motto being used on "Metropolitan slipware", made in  the 17th century  (in Essex, I think) for the London market, and no doubt this is in imitation of the style.

Does anyone know how/ if the Trinity Court Potteries in Nottinghamshire mark their reproductions?

Thanks for the response hercules i had a look on the trinity court website and saw this:
http://www.trinitycourtpotteries.co.uk/Picture%201335.jpg
which is very very similar. i have also emailed them regarding the backstamp so will let you know when/if I get a response.
Makes sense if trinity are copying something thats held at the museum of london

I emailed trinity and they asked for photos which Ive sent they also mentioned that they sometimes mark the tankards inside and they can be hard to find. I will let you know more if they email me back. I do hope that they mark their work, or that could be why there are so many 'old' ceramic items on ebay possibly??

Trinity court got back to me saying that this tankard wasnt one of theirs. I did ask about their backstamps but all they would say is that they sometimes mark inside the tankards, hmmm. Is it just me feeling a bit worried that loads of repros are going onto the market with no identifier?

I have seen many on that internet auction site recently with suggestions that they are older than they are, often with prices that have no sense of reality.

Pretty sure it's by a pottery supplying re-enactment societies in the 60s-70s. A broken one was dug up by an archaeological team who thought they'd got the real thing until they found the mark. The real one wouldn't have been marked
