Small jug and vase with VV or YV mark - Yeo Valley Pottery (not Vellow)
Two pots only 11cms tall. both have VV or YV stamp. I recently came across a teapot with a similar stamp on ebay, described as early David Winkley Vellow Studio.
Do you think this is the same on my 2 pots and they are Vellow or possibly early David Winkley too?

Re: Richard Champion, Monkleigh and Yeo Valley Pottery
I just got this email from David...
Sorry Graham but I didn't make either. There are a few floating around on the web that say there are from here
but aren't. Mine are stamped with Vellow (w!) and Somerset plus the workshop mark.
This begs the question: Who did make them?

Re: Richard Champion, Monkleigh and Yeo Valley Pottery
So David says No. The clear marks on his thread are pretty conclusive.
I have have some of these bits in my hand before, wondering what they were,
often in that speckled oatmeal glaze.
We must be down to a YV or a VY, both uncommon letters for names.
Vera, Victor/Victoria, Vernon, Yolande ???
Or, maybe a place name would more likely eg
Yare valley, or Vale of York....

Re: Richard Champion, Monkleigh and Yeo Valley Pottery
Edited to say it's Yeo Vale Pottery rather than Yeo Valley Pottery. Set up in Yeo Vale, Bideford, Devon by Richard Champion before he moved to Monkleigh in Devon in the 90s.
