Large heavy fluted inkwell Empty Large heavy fluted inkwell

I think this is an inkwell - there's a well in the middle of the glass -  (the metal fittings round the neck are missing), and I suspect it's Victorian if not earlier. The twist in the fluting is reminiscent of Georgian Irish carved wooden furniture such as peat buckets and bed posts.
